Lia

Today, I took the kids to story time, and then as a special treat, we went to Zoccoli's (a deli on downtown Pacific) and got lunch. As we happily munched on turkey and cheddar cheese sandwiches and pesto pasta salad, we looked around us at everything. Davy was quick to point out the trucks that rumbled by. Lia pointed out the birds in the trees. Both of the kids have gotten super friendly lately (Chris' teachings on strangers doesn't seem to have set in yet...) with Davy waving and yelling 'hi' to everyone he sees or meets. Their sincere friendliness was taken to another level as evidenced when I was cleaning up after the lunch and Lia was sitting on the curb and watching people. She saw someone striding down the street, on the opposite side of the street. She stood up. Stretched on her toes. Yelled from the bottom of said toes.

"HI THERE FRIEND!!!"

The person looked over and smiled. How could they not? Lia pinked up, waved a shy, coy little wave, and then returned to happily staring at everything that went past her. But wouldn't that make your day? If anyone just smiled at you and greeted you like that? You gotta love kids. :-)
