A Year Ago Today!

I still can't believe that Lia is a whole year old today.

Last night Chris and I were talking and I was saying how its depressing because as you get older, birthday's mean less. You get a year older. Hoo-rah-ray. You start getting cynical and begin measuring your year by what you DIDN'T get accomplished that you wanted too. (oh wait, that's just me? LOL) But that's why we have kids! Because suddenly, a year seems to mean so much more. You survived a year. A year of teething, sleeplessness, bottles, boobs, cribs and crying. A year of growth, love, family and change. And you see all of it; you see your whole years worth of work in the little person in front of you. Lia has nine teeth. She can walk. She can say tree, fish, mama and dada. She is an opinionated little girl. She claps her hands and plays ball. You look at the little person in front of you and a whole year has so much more meaning than it ever did before. You guided that little person in front of you through a whole year. She didn't get trampled, squashed, smothered, choked or anything else that would have been fatal. You both made it a whole year.

Yeah.

A year suddenly means a whole lot. :)

Happy Birthday Lia Bird!
